Benefits of Goji
Goji
berries are a most valuable source of alkaline healing and cleansing minerals.
Natural
sodium combines with potassium to regulate the acid-alkaline balance of the
blood and is essential for the production of saliva, an alkaline liquid that
promotes carbohydrate digestion.
These
delicious berries which can be enjoyed by all ages are certainly worth their
weight in healthy benefits!
History
Goji Berry (Lycium Barbarum L.) is a small red berry that is known as wolfberry
in the West and Goji throughout Asia and has been used as a dietary staple for
thousands of years in Northern China, where people are known for their
longevity.
Lycium
Barbarum L., which contains the unique L.B Polysaccharides, is grown only in a
small area of Northern China, near the Yellow river, called the Ningxia Hui
Autonomous Region.
From
its beginnings in the Himalyan Mountains, the mighty Yellow River cuts a path
through glacial valleys and across foothills, gathering as it goes an abundant
amount of mineral nutrients within its turbid waters.
Remarkably, more than two thousand years ago, the people from this land of harsh
contrasts, where Inner Mongolia and the Plateau of Tibet meet, ingeniously dug
irrigation canals into which the rich water of the Yellow River flowed
automatically before its journey across mainland China.
Still
in good repair today, these canals feed an area known as the Ningxia flood
plains and it is here that the goji vine grows free of pesticides and toxic
substances.
Vine
ripened, the berries are then harvested by hand and sun-dried without the use of
any preservatives or chemicals, making them an all natural, nothing added,
healthy, organic food product.
